The shape is the point. A U-shaped pillow wraps the lap so a baby can be laid back at the angle feeding needs, and the same curve becomes the support a baby leans on while learning to sit – so it stays in use for roughly two years rather than one season. The cover is 100% linen, and the reason is the fibre: flax is hollow, takes up to 20% of its own weight in water and releases it again quickly, which matters on a pillow pressed against a baby’s neck. It is woven to 200 thread count on a 130 x 70 construction, Grade A, with colour fastness of grade 3-4. Anti-dust-mite, anti-bacterial and non-toxic finishing is applied, and the cover removes for machine washing while the foam inner stays put.

Bought for nurseries and as a new-parent gift, and by baby retailers who would rather stock one pillow that covers feeding and sitting than two that cover one stage each. – Wash at 30C or below on a gentle cycle. This is the stated limit for the linen, not a suggestion.
– Do not iron. Heat flattens the linen’s irregular surface and can mark the filling underneath.
– Do not dry clean. The solvents are harsher on linen than a cool wash is.
– Remove the cover before washing and wash it on its own, so the filling does not distort in the drum.
– Air-dry flat in the shade. Linen is strongest when it dries in its own shape.
– No bleach and no optical brighteners; on a coloured cover they dull the shade first and weaken the fibre second.
– A tumble dry is unnecessary – the hollow fibre releases moisture rather than holding it.
– Sponge a spill as soon as it happens. A nursing pillow takes milk, and a fresh mark lifts with cold water where a set one does not.
– Wash the cover before first use if the pillow is going straight to a newborn.
