It’s the first figure on the quote, and it’s the one to trust least. The money you actually lose on bulk bedding goes missing for much duller reasons. Not thirty cents on a quote. A finished size that won’t hold at 60 degrees. A dye lot number that can’t be repeated four months later. A supplier who goes quiet the week your vessel loads.

So treat this as a working playbook, not a brochure. Private label, hotel group, retail shelf, distribution: same questions. Your order hasn’t been cut yet, so it can’t tell you whether that factory will hold the same length in April.

Boil it down to one question. Do they own the line that will run your bedding? Cutting, sewing, embroidery, packing, one building: fewer hand-offs, counter samples in days instead of weeks, one place to trace a fault when a fitted sheet comes out long. Buying through a trader? Fine. Which factory physically makes the goods, and who last audited that building?

A tidy trader is fine on a plain repeat. Trouble starts with custom sizes, contrast piping, embroidery or retail packaging. Every step of distance between you and the sewing floor is where an instruction goes missing.

Capability Checklist: What a Bedding Supplier Has to Prove

Custom sizes and construction

This is the bit most buyers skip. Bedding is a sizing business before it’s a fabric business. So ask how they hold finished measurements. Do they grade off a size chart, or off a pattern library nobody has opened in years? What tolerance do they run on cut length and cut width? And who sets the pocket depth, because if nobody asked how deep your mattress is, that number is a guess.

“Standard sizes only” is a polite no. Hotel work, caravans, export programmes: mattress heights differ by market and by property. A supplier who asks for the size chart, the mattress depth and the seam allowance before quoting a penny has shown you how the line actually runs.

Fabric consistency

Same name, two cloths. So push past the name: fibre composition, yarn count and thread count, weight in grams per square metre, residual shrinkage after sanforizing, colourfastness to washing.

Two habits tell you whether you can lean on a plant or not:

Lot control. Can they pull the same dye lot number four months later? Is the signed-off sample still on file, with the colour standard beside it?

Pre-shrunk cotton should sit under 5% residual, which is what keeps a fitted sheet on a deep mattress after thirty wash cycles at 60 degrees. Skip the pre-treatment and it won’t hold, whatever the care label says.

Sampling and pre-production approval

A sample isn’t a favour. It’s the contract, and the only copy you can hold. Write down what it locks in: fabric, colour, size, hem and edge finish, label, packing. Then say it in the email, because bulk gets judged against that piece and nothing else.

Ask how long sampling really takes, whether lab dips and swatches come free, whether a full counter sample set gets billed. Then treat the sample like a guest would. Wash it at 60 degrees. Measure it again. Check the overlocked seams after the wash, not before.

Quality control at each stage

QC that only wakes up at final packing is already too late. Ask where the checkpoints sit. Incoming fabric. The cutting table. The overlock and bartack stations. One last look before it goes in the carton.

On export orders, outside eyes carry weight. SGS verification of the inspection results hands you an independent record, not the supplier’s own paperwork about itself.

Certifications: What They Really Prove

Certificates get pasted onto websites far more often than anyone reads them. One who dumps a folder of logos on the table doesn’t. And if a certificate names neither your product nor your production site, treat it as marketing until somebody proves otherwise.

MOQ, Pricing and Reorder Terms

Get the MOQ split by size and colour. One flat figure tells you nothing. A 100-piece floor works on a first order if it spreads over two colours and three sizes. It stops working the moment it means 100 pieces of one colourway.

Then take the quote apart. Fabric. Making. Trim. Embroidery. Labelling. Packing. Freight terms. Arrive at one landed price and you’ll never spot the line that jumps when the order shifts.

Reorders need their own conversation. Put these on the table:

Will order two run on the same fabric quality and the same dye lot number?

Is the approved counter sample kept on file, and for how long?

How long does the quoted price actually hold?

And what happens if the order drops by 20%?

Communication and Project Management

Language and reply speed are operations issues, not soft skills. A supplier who answers inside three hours while you’re sampling will usually still answer inside three hours when a container is stuck at customs clearance.

So test them before you commit:

Send a written spec: sizes, colours, materials, packing, the lot. Nail that split down before you say yes.

Q3: How do I know a supplier can repeat an order?

A: Ask how they store the approved sample and the dye-lot records, and how long they’ll hold the price. Then run one small repeat order before you bet a season on them.

Q4: How long should shipping take for bulk bedding?

A: Express lands in about 7-10 days, air takes 15-20, sea runs 30-45. Add production and inspection on top, then work backwards from the retail date.

เกี่ยวกับ HSC Textiles

We’re ULAND GROUP, a group company that does manufacturing and trade.
