Before using your hemstitch napkins for the first time, a gentle water rinse is recommended. This step washes away any residual sizing on the fabric and loose dyes from production, leaving the napkins softer to the touch and reducing the risk of color fading with regular use.

When it comes to cleaning, never use chlorine bleach—fabric softener isn’t necessary either. Opt for a mild detergent instead, as it’s gentle on both the base fabric and the delicate hemstitch details, preserving their crispness and color.

Wash the napkins in room-temperature water. Avoid soaking them in hot water, using dry cleaning services, or scrubbing vigorously back and forth if hand-washing (this can fray the hemstitch threads). For machine washing, skip the high-speed spin-dry setting to protect the stitching. After washing, air dry the napkins in a well-ventilated area—keep them out of direct sunlight, as UV rays can fade the fabric and weaken the hemstitch. Low-temperature ironing is safe if needed; if using a dryer, set the temperature below 30°C. High heat can damage the fabric’s integrity and cause the napkins to lose their shape.

Lay the napkins flat to dry—never stretch them excessively, as this can pull the hemstitch out of place and lead to permanent deformation. For storage, fold them neatly and place them in a dark, low-humidity space with good airflow, ensuring the hemstitch stays intact and the fabric remains fresh.

Avoid hanging the napkins on sharp objects. The fabric (often cotton or linen blends with bamboo fiber properties) has good water absorption—when wet, it becomes heavier but maintains excellent drape that won’t compromise the precision of the hemstitch.
