A protector is only doing its job if it covers the surfaces that actually get dirty. – Vacuum the surface between washes in a hospital or allergy-focused setting rather than washing more often than the knit will take.
Choosing one comes down to three measurements and one habit. First, the mattress depth: if it is 15 to 17 inches, or carries a topper, the standard fitted sheet will not stay on and an encasement is the right answer rather than a top-only pad.
