Follow these simple steps to preserve the texture, shape, and color of your linen cushion for long-lasting use:

1. Pre-Use Rinse

Give your new linen cushion (or cushion cover, if removable) a gentle rinse with clean water before first use. This washes away any residual sizing and excess dye from production, softening the linen fabric for everyday use and helping it retain its vibrant color over time.

2. Detergent & Bleach Tips

Chlorine bleach is strictly off-limits—it can break down linen’s natural fibers and cause discoloration. Fabric softener isn’t necessary, as linen naturally softens with each wash and use. Opt for a mild, gentle detergent to clean effectively without compromising the fabric’s strength and quality.

3. Washing Instructions

Wash linen cushions (or covers) only with room-temperature water. Avoid high-temperature soaking, dry cleaning, and vigorous back-and-forth scrubbing if hand washing. For machine washing (removable covers), skip the high-speed spin-dry setting to prevent fabric damage. After washing, air-dry in a well-ventilated area—keep away from direct sunlight to avoid fading. If ironing is needed (for a crisp look), use a low heat setting. If using a dryer, set the temperature to no more than 30°C; high heat will weaken linen fibers and cause deformation.

4. Drying & Storage

Lay the linen cushion (or cover) flat to dry whenever possible. Never over-stretch it while damp, as this leads to permanent shape loss. Once fully dry, fold removable covers neatly, or reinsert the cushion pad and store in a dark, low-humidity, well-ventilated space (such as a closet shelf or storage bin). This preserves the fabric’s texture and prevents mold or mildew growth.

5. Daily Handling Note

Avoid hanging linen cushions or covers on sharp hooks, rough edges, or jagged surfaces. Linen has moderate water absorption, so it becomes heavier when wet, and its natural drape makes it prone to snagging. Handle with care to avoid tears, snags, or fraying along seams—especially if the cushion has decorative stitching or trim.
