Keep your embroidered napkins looking vibrant and intact with these gentle care steps:

Give your new embroidered napkins a soft rinse with water before their first use. This washes away leftover fabric sizing and loose dyes from the embroidery process, making the napkins softer to the touch and helping them resist fading with regular use.

Never use chlorine bleach on the napkins—fabric softener isn’t necessary either. Choose a mild detergent instead, as it’s gentle on both the base fabric and delicate embroidery threads, preserving their color and texture.

Wash the napkins in room-temperature water. Avoid hot water soaking, dry cleaning, and vigorous back-and-forth scrubbing during hand washing (this can damage the embroidery). For machine washing, skip the high-speed spin-dry setting to prevent thread fraying. After washing, air-dry in a well-ventilated area—keep them out of direct sunlight, as UV rays can fade the embroidery. Low-temperature ironing is okay if needed; if using a dryer, set the temperature below 30°C. High heat can break down the fabric and cause the napkins to lose their shape.

Lay the napkins flat to dry. Never over-stretch them, as this can lead to permanent deformation—especially around the embroidered areas. For storage, fold them neatly and place in a dark, low-humidity space with good airflow to keep both the fabric and embroidery in top condition.

Avoid hanging the napkins on sharp objects. The base fabric (typically cotton-linen blends with bamboo fiber elements) has good water absorption—when wet, it becomes heavier but retains excellent drape without compromising the embroidery’s shape.
